This is one of my all time favorite weddings I have ever shot. WOAW, I am sure you can only imagine how VERY EXCITED I am.. to finally be blogging this wedding!! I met Mohini probably well over a year ago at my favorite coffee shop (Intelligentsia) in Venice- I was referred to her by her amazing wedding planner, Sara from At Your Door Events. We worked together the year before on a Santa Monica beach wedding-it was an absolute honor that Sara recommended me. Especially after seeing the other vendors she recommended to Mohini. I.E the videographers (Winston and Aaron Tao) are sheer genius and their video clip brought tears to my eyes! They emphasize the same things as myself. Prime lenses, natural light, wide apperture and super creative shots. So, yea, we got along like we had been working a million weddings together. Mohini and Vincent. You two are such incredible people! Thank you so much for having me be a part of your wedding. It was one heck of a busy day filled with such unforgettable family and friends. It was fabulous that I was able to meet/hangout/photograph you and your family at the Mehndi party. I was no longer a stranger and felt that I had gained the trust from your family. I have shot many weddings but really feel that your family was especially welcoming and sweet to me. Even one family member made me promise if I were to visit India I better call him. Lol.

2011 was a hell of a year! Personally and business-ally.Business-wise it was terrific and had the pleasure of shooting 18 gorgeous and unique weddings and was even published twice! Most importantly, I made my clients very happy! In 2011, I even started blogging! I know, right! Who would have ever guessed?When people think of me, Erin. They aren’t like..Erin oh you know.. she’s a fab writer. So, getting me to start adding text to my blog was and still is very much a real challenge! Thank you for reading this and hanging in there!! I am super thrilled you are here. lol.

I am dedicating this blog entry to my Great Grandma Patch who passed away last week at the ripe old age of 91. Most people are not fortunate enough to have the opportunity to getting to know their Great Grandparents . I most certainly did, I had 26 long years with her. In the last week, my family and I, have spent a lot of time together..drinking coffee..and looking at family photos..okay, with a bit more coffee. Of course, some of my cousins insisted on putting Baileys in theirs. Looking back through those family photos was a very touching reminder of how important photography really is. Each part of life deserves to be documented!!:) So many changes in 2011. Births, deaths, breakups,and moves. I can’t wait to see how 2012 unfolds(esp since i am already 50% booked!!)! Now onto the recap of 2011!!

Botantical Garden Wedding | Julia and Dave | Evanston Illinois Wedding Photographer

Julia and Dave are such an awesome and fun couple. They really live it up and live life (with their two dogs). Over the last year I have had the pleasure to get to know them better. I knew just by reading the first few emails between Julia and I, we would really connect. And sure enough, we did. When we met it was like we were instant friends and connected. I am glad her Mom approved. Whom I have to say did a fabulous job putting the wedding together! Rose it was such a beautiful day!

The wedding day was actually pretty mellow in terms of weddings. Everything seemed to fit together smoothly and Julia’s bridesmaids were AWESOME. They were happy to help out in any way possible or try a new pose. It was such a happy day. Considering that it was one of the hottest days of the year, I think everyone did a great job. Especially Dave, he was head to toe sweaty!

Side note: I love the fact that I photographed two brides in the same family by coincidence! Val is Julia’s cousin! It was pretty awesome especially at the wedding I recognized many familiar faces. I even ran into Val’s parents who told me to take a break! HAHAH! Man, I must have looked really exhausted! LOL. I loved both families and really appreciate how welcoming you both were to me! Thank you.

Mountain Mermaid Wedding | Outdoor Garden Wedding | Schaumburg and Chicago Wedding Photographer

Cathy and Mike were married on a very hot and sunny day in Southern California. Can’t say that’s a shocker because it was late summer and we were in Cali!

Anyways, there wedding day was absolutely gorgeous. I especially enjoyed shooting the ceremony as it was the most beautiful part of the day. The were married outside and under a tree by the couples good friend Lieutenant Steve Chan, PhD. It was a small and intimate wedding at the Mountain Mermaid where their best friends and family came and partied it up! They wanted a low key wedding filled with fun and loved ones. They ate, they drank and they danced. I especially loved how the groom had Delirium Tremens as a beer option at the bar. Which if you didn’t know yet, it is my ALL TIME fav beer ever. When I saw that I knew this couple was really awesome. Watching people so in love like Mike and Cathy bring a smile to my face. It was a pleasure shooting your wedding and thank you for having me be a part of it.
